The Dreaming Tree

Chet Baker was a jazz trumpeter and singer.  He was most known for playing in the cool jazz style, as well as performing standards.  ”But Not For Me” by George and Ira Gershwin is an example of this.  It was written for their musical, “Girl Crazy”.  What I love the most about Chet Baker is his imperfection in vocals.  Though not a bad singer by any means, he doesn’t possess the same sound as the more prominent jazz vocalists of his time.  But his voice is endearing and, I think, contains an honesty that is not always heard in other voices.
